This was Vertigo's self-created outdoor gig. We called it "Vertigo's Back to School Bash". For a 5 buck cover charge you got us playing plus free beer. What a great deal! We found the location.Tom's mom who owned the "Hat and Cane" club let us use the back lot but we had to clear it. We rented a flatbed truck trailer for the stage and paid a trucker to pull it out there. We hired Strohs Beer who brought out the beer truck with an attendent. We paid the rock radio station to play the heavy metal radio ad we wrote, and then we passed out tons of flyers. We even hired some big bouncer guys we knew for security. Everything was in place. On the day of the show the heat was killing. We thought we were going to pass out playing. We lasted about a set. Then the rain came and never stopped. The early crowd stayed and drank the rest of our beer away. At least we broke even!
